As an Expert Reviewer you would:

Review, score and provide constructive feedback for ~ [#] applications beginning in [DATE]. You will have approximately four weeks to conduct the review and submit your scores and feedback. The review process takes approximately one hour per application, relies on a scoring rubric, and is done remotely.

Complete, or have a representative complete, a 1-hour training webinar. The training webinar will take place on [Date & Time] CST and will cover the use of an online evaluation platform you will use to provide constructive feedback on applications and submit your scores.

Submit a 100-word biography and high-resolution color headshot. Your biography and headshot (460 x 460 pixels) will appear on the [Challenge Name] website.

To compensate you for your time and talent, Lever for Change is offering an optional honorarium of US$500 upon successful completion of all assigned reviews. Declining this honorarium allows Lever for Change to retain more funding to market and support Bold Solutions Network (BSN), a collection of more than 100 highly-rated, rigorously evaluated projects that emerge from open competitions managed by Lever for Change. We offer BSN members ongoing learning and networking opportunities, small grants, and promote projects to philanthropists for additional funding long after a competition cycle. 

We know demands on your time are great, but we hope you will join the panel. We will learn from your insight, and we hope you will learn and be inspired by the creativity and commitment of others.  

You will evaluate applications on the following criteria [Update as needed]: 1) impactful, 2) feasible, 3) community-centered and 4) sustainable. All expert reviewer scores will be adjusted for biases inherent in the scoring process, and a rank order of proposals will be provided to the [Challenge Sponsor] Selection Committee. From among the top-ranked proposals, up to [#] finalists will be identified and receive [$$ Amount] planning grants to strengthen their plans and lay the groundwork for their big ideas. Up to [#] awards will be announced by [Date]. Selecting from amongst finalist organizations, [Challenge Sponsor] will provide at least [#] awards of [$$ Amount] and [#] more awards of [$$ Amount]. 

If you are interested in submitting your own proposal to the Challenge, please note that you will be asked to recuse yourself completely from the Expert Review panel. If you are the head of the organization that submits a proposal, you will also be asked to recuse yourself from the panel. If you are neither the head of the organization nor on the project team, we only require that you recuse yourself from evaluating your organization’s application. We also ask that you recuse yourself from evaluating the applications of any organizations for which family members or close friends serve as employees, investors, advisors, or board members.
