Eliminating A Leading Childhood Disability To Facilitate Play

Build A World Of Play Challenge
MiracleFeet

MiracleFeet’s clubfoot consortium will treat 80,000 children in 40 countries, unlocking a lifetime of play, education, and inclusion—opportunities that are otherwise a distant dream.

Last Updated: February 2024

Executive Summary

Nearly 1 million children under the age of six are living with a devastating yet preventable disability caused by untreated clubfoot, and 200,000 more babies are born with the condition every year—90% of whom are born in low- and middle-income countries. Left untreated, clubfoot hinders early childhood development with drastic consequences—including pain, impaired mobility, social exclusion, neglect, and poverty.

MiracleFeet and its consortium of 36 in-country partner organizations are on a mission to eliminate untreated clubfoot from the planet. We will establish five regional Centers of Excellence to strengthen local capacity, embed clubfoot treatment within hospitals, and expand access to care in 40 low-income countries. This project will ensure 80,000 children receive the life-changing treatment they need and deserve, unlocking opportunities for them to walk, run, play, interact with peers, and thrive for the rest of their lives—while also building treatment capacity to benefit future generations.
