Executive Summary
At the Global Education Movement (GEM), an initiative of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), we create higher education pathways that prepare refugees to become agents of change.
GEM serves over 1,500 students in Africa and the Middle East. We support graduates, over half of whom are women, to access dignified work. 88% are employed within 6 months and earn more than double of local graduates.
Over the next five years, we will expand our global footprint and reach 5,800 new learners. Through the GEM Hub, our Africa-based social enterprise, we will generate revenue to cover 70% of our operational costs by 2022. By 2030, we aim to achieve full financial sustainability and reach 25,000 learners.
Higher education is an incredibly durable solution. Whether they remain in a host country, repatriate or resettle to another country, our graduates have a recognized credential, opening doors to higher earnings and creating ripple effects that benefit entire communities.
