Philanthropy Associate

Lever for Change is looking for a Philanthropy Associate to provide a wide range of support to Lever for Change's Philanthropy team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, hard-working professional to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and to directly support the organizational strengthening and programmatic activities of a philanthropic start-up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to assist with the identification of qualified donors
  • Maintain and update all key donor development information and track records, reports, and dashboards in Salesforce and other relevant systems
  • Join other Philanthropy Associates in supporting the Vice President of Philanthropy and Director of Philanthropy in developing, maintaining, and strengthening long-term relationships with existing donors, donor prospects, and intermediaries (wealth and philanthropic advisors)
  • Produce high-quality presentations and communications for donor prospects and clients
  • Curate collections of organizations from the LFC database that align with donors’ requests
  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to develop and implement creative approaches to donor partner engagement and donor community building (for example- a donor learning series)
  • Proofread written materials carefully, providing alternate text where appropriate
  • Collaborate with others to leverage opportunities, build awareness and meaningful engagement with donors
  • Perform issue area research and compile reports
  • Organize and schedule donor and internal meetings
  • Complete other projects as assigned

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of current events, developments and issues in the fields of communications and philanthropy
  • Write extensively for internal purposes
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or related experience required
  • Three to five years of professional experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively
  • A presence that is self-confident and diplomatic with a collegial approach to work, and high professional standards
  • Technologically savvy
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Trustworthy, respectful, and committed to excellence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience with Salesforce (or other CRM software)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The work environment is an office setting.  Intermittent physical activities will include bending, reaching, sitting, and moving around the office during working hours.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a person with physical disabilities to perform the job.

The position is hybrid and based in Chicago, Illinois.

Annual starting salary for this role will start at $89,500.
